Audiophoria #10 - 04/10/2010

Howdy! This week on Audiophoria:

This will be our 10th show on SpiritPlants radio and oh boy, it's a good one! A friend of mine, Mr. DJ Michael Stanton, has created an exclusive 2 hour long DJ mix for Audiophoria which will be played in its entirety this weekend!

We will also be hearing a couple new tracks from the brand new (I'm talking extremely brand new) Dr. Dog album released just this month called Shame, Shame. I pre-ordered the album on vinyl awhile back and as it turns out, I managed to score one of the limited edition bright orange vinyl copies, for which I am very excited! It also came with a download code to download a digital copy of the album in mp3 format, which I thought was a really awesome idea. Not everyone has one of those USB turntables! And just to round things off, we'll also throw in a Cat Power track to counteract the dog-gone doggyness of Dr. Dog.

So...be sure to tune in Saturday afternoon at 4pm Central/6pm Pacific for some great original mixes and a few new releases from Dr. Dog. Stream live via your audio player at http://yage.net:9000 or listen on our website audio player located at http://spfradio.yage.net.

Audiophoria #8 - 3/20/2010

Tune in Saturday night at 7pm central for the next 2 hour installment of Audiophoria on SpiritPlants Radio. This week, I decided to change things up a bit. There's a bit less me, a lot more flow, and more music overall, which is a good thing.

A short break for Audiophoria

The powers that be have decided the next two weekends (Mar 5-6 and Mar 12-13) are "best of" weekends, so no new Audiophoria will air this week. But I'll be back on Saturday March 19th with another new show. Details to come soon!

Audiophoria #7 - 2/27/10

I'm on a roll here, three shows in three weeks!

Normally, I spend my weekends prior to broadcast planning my play list pretty meticulously. Planning, arranging, rearranging, adding new tracks, removing tracks, re-adding tracks I had removed, and rearranging them yet again. But this week, I'm giving myself a break from all that work by playing some of my random favorites from a range of musical styles. I've been told in the past that my musical tastes are all over the place, even schizophrenic...but to me that just means I'm well-rounded from a musical standpoint.

Be sure to tune to http://spfradio.yage.net (or stream the audio via http://yage.net:9000) on Saturday night for Audiophoric random goodness. Air time is 6pm CST on Saturday, and the repeat broadcast is on at 12pm CST on Sunday.

Audiophoria #6 - 2/20/10

Ahh, last night was fun! The archive of Audiophoria #5 will be up sometime next week for anyone that missed the show. I also want to send my praises to the dj who aired right after my show, catfishrivers, who brought us an AWESOME show last night. Very cool stuff!

Next week, we'll be heading to the UK to listen the very best of The Kinks from 1964-1975. The Kinks are one of the most influential bands to come from the 1960's British Invasion. Ray and Dave Davies' songwriting skills are impeccable, they just have this knack for telling stories that people can really relate to. They had some fantastic concept albums like the cult classic The Kinks are The Village Green Preservation Society, Soap Opera, and Muswell Hillbillies. Then for the remainder of the show, we'll be checking out some music from folk/rock legend Donovan, yet another great artist who came out of the UK in the 1960's.

Tune in next Saturday at http://spfradio.yage.net or stream us from http://yage.net:9000!

Audiophoria #5 - 2/13/10

After a few weeks of (slow) preparation and almost a year hiatus after my last show, I've got another installment of Audiophoria ready to go. I haven't confirmed the broadcast time with the good folks at SpiritPlants as of yet, but as soon as the schedule is finalized, I'll post-edit with the air time.

EDIT: Audiophoria #5 airs Saturday at 6pm PACIFIC TIME and will replay on Sunday morning at 6am PACIFIC TIME.

This weekend, I'm bringing you a 2 hour mix of some of the best modern music out today (2008-present). I'll be featuring newly released music from The Flaming Lips, Wilco, Monsters of Folk, Jaguar Love, Vampire Weekend, RJD2, Portishead, Evil Cowards, Ben Kweller and much much more. (There's also a little old school treat at the end for you folk music fans, and a surprise acoustic appearance by my lovely and talented friend Jess Lageson who hails from Portland, Oregon.) Be sure to tune in at spfradio.yage.net! <3
